Vogue Paris: Tresor National

Vogue Paris: Trésor National
By Bernie Rothschild

The April 2013 issue of Vogue Paris that is dedicated to the South American culture of Peru is a collaboration with celebrity photographer Mario Testino. The editorial titled "Trésor National" (or in English, "National Treasure") by Emmanuelle Alt features native Peruvian model Juana Burga Cervera wearing the national costumes with a colorful makeup that represented well the country of Peru that has been known for its rich cultural heritage. As we all know, Peruvian women have the best hair in the world next to the Indian women. They're known for their long, wavy, thick locks that are imported abroad.

The model could have just walked in a John Galliano show with her eccentric looks. Galliano was known for his extravagant and over-the-top designs that were often inspired by the cultures of many different countries. Since Galliano left, eccentricities have been missing in the fashion world, but maybe it's just resting for his comeback. The colors also remind me of the recent Tom Ford Fall 2013 collections. This issue of Vogue Paris takes a glimpse of the beautiful country of Peru that makes our eyes travel.

Love the way your eyes travel too Bernie. And love the tiny torso in the model in the sheer pink bodice and the eccentricity of the "over-the-top" use of the emblazoned jacket used as a shawl high around her neck -- you're right, we need Galliano back!
