Vogue Paris In Black, White, And Red

Vogue Paris in Black, White, and Red
By Paul Kolyer

The popular phrase "time flies" sounds so much chicer in Latin, especially the original version — "Fugit, inreparabile tempus"or "It escapes, irretrievable time." Just so timely now as our lives, and the fashion world, are flying faster than ever! Dior will show Pre-Fall 2015 in Tokyo soon, and I am shopping for a Fall 2014 coat. September is gone, may as well kiss October au revoir too. Thank goodness Vogue Paris freezes time in such well-edited and chic tomes to save and savor!

Looking back at the September and October issues, I am reminded of a classic joke with a chic little twist. "What is black and white and read all over?" "Vogue Paris mon chéri!" The September issue is packed with black-and-white Parisian style. The illustration by the famous René Gruau sums up Parisian elegance, black ink on paper.

As soon as pictures showed editor-in-chief Emmanuelle Alt and new fashion director Suzanne Koller at Nicolas Ghesquière's first Louis Vuitton show, we knew Vogue Paris was back in the front row! September cover girl Natasha Poly wears LV and we are treated to an editorial and handsome black-and-white portrait of Nicolas by Karim Sadli.

Meanwhile in Paris, Suzanne Koller styles Edie Campbell in Fall dresses, don't you love Edie's new hairstyle and color? The shorter length dresses with high boots are everywhere, this selection includes beautiful examples!

Not to be out-booted, Emmanuelle Alt chooses Versace thigh highs — and nothing else — for October on new mom Natasha Poly!

Black lace is so French and Emmanuelle Alt gives us the short of it in her September issue…

and the long of it in her October issue…. très sexy !

The fashion pack and EA love Anthony Vaccarello. Emmanuelle Alt styles his looks in September and October in glorious black, or black and red!

The French term haute joaillerie brings to mind the Place de la Concorde and the September and October issues are dripping with bijoux! Geraldine Saglio exhales chic with every photo and Suzanne Koller stuns with Hedi Slimane muse Grace Hartzel in necklaces and earrings from the most glamorous jewelry houses.

September also brought us the return of Raquel Zimmermann. Top stylist Joe McKenna teams with Vogue Paris favorites Mert and Marcus to give Raquel a new hairstyle and fierce looks in the same strong future styles as Anna Ewers in the awesome Mert and Marcus August cover shoot.

The femme fatale is a French institution and one that Emmanuelle Alt thankfully loves to include on a regular basis! I adore Rachel's fatal attraction, dressed scantily in unisex oversize shorts by Melitta Baumeister and boots by Rick Owens!

Eyes suddenly closed and bottle in hand, an open door to the back of a van, lord knows what "seduction" she has in store, stay tuned as Vogue Paris seduces with each new issue!

Any pic of Nicolas and EA? I think she's not really a fan of Nicolas designs
